How to Avoid Homeowners’ Claims Series: Part 1 of 3

Personal Lines When you think of homeowners’ insurance claim, it is likely associated with a natural disaster. In reality though, many losses are preventable and if they could’ve been avoided with proper maintenance, insurance may not pay for the damages.  Over the next month, we’ll post a series of blogs to help you reduce the probability of experiencing an uncovered claim.  Part one of the series provides tips to avoid water-related claims:

  1. Replace your washing machine hose every three years and inspect it regularly to avoid leaks and water damage
  2. Reseal grout and caulking in the bath tub and shower to prevent water from getting into the wall or floors, which can rot the wood
  3. Have a professional evaluate toilet leaks
  4. Check your dishwasher regularly for signs of wear and tear and clean it to prevent buildup and clogs, which can cause your hose to leak

In our next blog of this series, we’ll discuss heating and electrical prevention tips. For a better understanding of your homeowners’ insurance policy, and what is covered, contact a trusted AssuredPartners NL agent at (844) 507-2528.
